You can clip your dogs hair. I have been a groomer for over 15 years and all sorts of dogs have been given haircuts. My suggestion is to NOT cut the hair too short. A trim is fine but too short and you run the risk of sunburn,etc... If you are doing this because you think they are hot, clip the hair on the stomach a little bit shorter than the rest of the dog. If you doing this because of "shedding" remember they will still shed, just shorter hairs.
