Can dogs catch colds from humans or catch colds at all? What is kennel cough/cold and how do dogs catch it?

Yep, it is ultra contagious and they get it from other dogs as well as grass/dirt. K. cough is caused by viruses, some of which have a vaccine. The yearly shot is called a bordatella shot after the virus group that it vaccinates against.
Sometimes, vaccinated dogs get k. cough. This can happen because the vaccine was too close to renewal and the efficacy of the vaccine ran out. More often, though, it is just that a different virus caused their k. cough.
Since antibiotics don't work on viruses, vets prescribe them for k. cough only to prevent secondary infections like pneumonia from setting in. Most dogs with typical k. cough don't slow down much, but have a barking, hacking cough and some noisy breathing, especially in the morning.
People won't catch k. cough, neither can dogs catch people viruses. It is technically possible, but highly improbable due to our genetic makeup.
We can get parasites and bacterial infections from dogs, but only in cases of VERY poor hygiene.

Yes a dog can get any cold and yes from a Human and from being outside! I'm not sure about the kennel cough though sorry!
Kennel cough is an illness when dogs have a real nasty cough! My friends dog had it and it really was difficult to get rid of and was horrable to listen to! Its highly contagus and can be caught very easaly within a few minites of being in contact with another dog!
