Can a service dog also be a good pet facitilated therapy dog and handle both roles withoug confusion?

A shelter adopted dog that has been approved as a service dog would like to volunteer with our pet facilitated therapy (PTF) group but seems to have a problem with reacting to children and other dogs when working with his owner. Is there something that can be done to untrain the negative behavior toward other dogs and children?
