Check with your vet. I don't think she "ate" her puppies, but maybe there's something wrong with her or the pups. To prevent further pain, get her spayed.

Sorry, Bitches do eat their puppies sometimes.

That is one of the reasons only experienced breeders should be breeding dogs. You are lucky your boxer is still alive. I agree, you need to get her spayed.

Why, the dog may not have been healthy, you may not have provided what she needed to whelp in a safe and comfortable environment. She might not have had all of the proper nutrients in her diet. The puppies may have been born dead…. The list goes on.

Do you know when she was due? Did you provide a whelping area? Did you have her health certifications? Did the male have health certifications? Was the vet following her pregnancy? Breeding is a lot harder than just letting your dog mate with your friends/cousins/neighbors male dog.

Not to mention how many poorly bred boxers and other dogs are unwanted and dyeing in the shelters everyday for lack of homes.

Yes, plenty of bitches have eaten their puppies!!! I have personally seen it happen. However, you will NEVER know since you obviously were not watching your pregnant dog when she was due to give birth. Responsible breeders have a safe, confined area for their dogs to whelp in. When the time is near they go outside on leash only and are NEVER left alone.
More than one pregnant dog has escaped to under the porch and had their babies there, or even worse places!

Yup, it can and does happen. A couple of possible causes are that she felt threatened in the area she decided to whelp in, or she does not yet have her maternal instinct.
Just one more addition to the lists of reasons why not to breed when you don't know what you are doing.
