Black lab pup peeing on the rug and barking/whining for attention at the door.
He is a black lab puppy around the age of eight months. We have had him over a week now, and the first few days, he was a dream pup! He was playful, but not aggressive and was already potty trained. We were able to take him camping and he was off the leash the entire time, and just followed us.
The last few days though he has been a nightmare! He has started ignoring the commands I already taught him, and has been sitting at the door whining obsessively. If you try to ignore him then he starts to bark at you, and if you continue to ignore, he pees, but only enough to really upset you (I know he doesn't have to pee because it happens right after I took him out). We have tried splashing water in his face, but he thinks it's a game and starts nipping and running around the house, as well as barking EVEN LOUDER!!!
Someone please tell me what to do with him!

It sounds as if you might need some help with training. Find a reputable dog trainer in your area. I don't think splashing water on him labs tend to like water, is a good correction. You might want to try walking him when he whines. You also might want to have him checked by a vet to make sure he is not having problems with his bladder.

He's 8 months old and he's a LABRADOR and you've only had him one week... NO dog is settled into a new home in only a week, much less an 8 month old lab puppy.
He needs pretty much constant exercise at this point... swimming, running fetching, or he will wind up, as you are discovering, due to not having enough things to do. I raised and showed labs for over 40 years and trust me, you have a LONG WAY to go before he is a couch potato, if he ever becomes one.
Camping worked because you were giving him much more attention and exercise.
Throwing water in his face is only going to make a wet dog... you need to begin some sort of confinement when you are not watching him, AND definitely, up the exercise so he has something to do other than bark at the door.
I would suggest reposting this in the Forums section under behavior and training. You can get much more interactive responses there. Here we are limited to a certain amount of characters and cannot repost.
