Ya I think that all Maltese adults are long haired. U should brush them every day to make sure that its fur doesn't get into nots. And they should be taken to a groomer to get is fur trimmed to make sure it doesn't get to long.

It is absolutely fine to keep a maltese's fur shorter. I think the only real reason to keep you maltese fur long is when they are show dogs or simply for looks. But keeping it shorter will help with not having to groom as often....they might look a little like a Lhasa apso with short hair but there is nothing wrong with that

Yes, all maltese adults have long hair IF they are not groomed regularly. Most pet Maltese are groomed every six to eight weeks.
Lexus, WHY in the world would a maltese look like a Lhasa if it has short hair?? A Maltese is a pure white dog with a small head, almond shaped eyes and a longish nose. Lhasas have large, round heads with a short, pushed in nose and huge, round eyes. They also are predominately colored breeds and very rarely all white. Size is also a huge difference... Lhasas are normally around 15 lbs or more, maltese are normally well under 10 lbs.
