Any suggestions on how to resolve mouthy behavior in a 10 month old Sibe/Mal?
My 10 month old Sibe/Mal (Toca) is SO mouthy! He is way to big to be using his teeth in this manner on me, my 5 year old Mal (Lotus), dogs at the dog park, and guests in my home. I really need some advice before this behavior gets him (or me) into trouble.
As a 70LB 10 month old pup, Toca needs help before he hurts someone or gets hurt. He is a great dog. He just really needs some tough love to get through this. I know Lotus especially would really appreciate his ears in tact!

Just try to get through this puppy stage by keeping plenty of chew toys, rawhide bones, puzzle toys, etc. within reach of your dog until he/she grows out of that puppy stage. It's a hard time, but you'll get through it!
If you need anything else, let me know!

10 months old is pretty old for puppy biting, you most likely need way more input than simple puppy nipping hints. We don't have enough information here to really help...is this done as play OR is he seriously trying to bite?
I would STRONGLY suggest you meet with a good behaviorist and get some help getting to the bottom of his issues before, as you say, someone gets hurt or you get sued for him biting the wrong person.
These answers are too limited both by space and single posts to provide any real help here. Perhaps if your question was re-posted over on the behavior and training forum you would get some better understanding as you can answer questions there and post more than once.
Good luck. You are right to be concerned about this problem and he is still young enough to get these issues worked out.

Sonny was only a little younger (9 months) when he arrived in Connecticut. Because he was repeatedly biting his new Mom, she asked the rescue to remove him. I took him as an emergency foster.
I used a game to teach him to lick, not bite to get what he wants. If you read "day 3" of Sonny's diary it describes the game. It is a classical conditioning technique and should be repeated many times a day. Give it a try, I got improvement in a few days. Let me know if you need more directions.
