Any guess on what mix breed he might be?
Any guess on what mix breed he might be?
Hello- I'm just asking out of curiosity what everyone thinks my pup is? I plan on getting the mixed breed DNA test to find out for sure but I thought it would be fun to take some guesses. He was a rescue that we found wandering the street about 2 months ago. By the vets estimate he should be 4 months old. He was weighed yesterday when we got him neutered and now weighs 28 pounds.
The vet thought at the time that he MIGHT be an English Mastiff Pitt mix. He def. has the mastiff brindle, and black mask but hes very skinny. He eats like a pig and feed him just about the same amount as our two year old dog (the lighter one shown in some of the pictures.)
Our other dog is a pit mix of some sort and the two have completely different personalities, Lark the older one is a big cuddly ham and Rossi, the pup is very protective and independent.
A little bit about the pup...he is already well socialized at the neighborhood dog park, and gets a long very well with the other dogs but much much rather sit with the humans and watch them play. He also is very wary of strangers and will sometimes bark or growl if a person he doesn't recognize comes to the door. He is not learning any if these behaviors from our older dog... in fact the puppy has already established that he is alpha. He is in a training class now and is very attentive and pays no attention to the dogs or people around him when we are there. As I stated already, hes on the skinny side, he has thick long legs, the back ones seem longer than the front.
I WILL be getting him DNA tested very soon, to try to figure out some of his behavior problems and I will post the results to see who was right!
I would appreciate any thoughts!

i would say maybe pitbull/ lab only cause he don't look to big to be pitbull/ mastiff or i would had went with that one. lol

Looks more like a Pit/Boxer mix to me- his lanky build is more Boxer-like, and brindle is very common in Boxers. But his face is more Pit-like. His size could be from either- if he's 28 lbs at 4 months, I think he'll end up around 50-60 lbs full grown. Definitely not an English Mastiff mix- he would be way bigger and heavy-set with looser skin.

Rossi - American Pit Bull Terrier/Great Dane/Black Mouth Cur mix. Black Mouth Curs can be brindle too.

You'll be able to better guess as the dog grows. Could be pitt/boxer or mastiff/pitt mix. The Pitt in him could allow him to be leaner than mastiffs, as well as tighten up the loose jowls of the mastiff.
It's always interesting with mix breeds.
I wouldn't rule out the mastiff just yet though. He's still real young.
