Advice on puppy fee from breeder?
hi,
i'm looking for some advice please. i'm looking to buy a puppy from a breeder and have found something which i think is suitable, however i think she may be overcharging although i am not sure. i realise puppies are expensive and there should be no limit for the perfect puppy but i digress.
the puppy is a male pomchi, mother is full pomeranian, dad is 3/4 chihuaha and 1/4 jack russell. the asking price is £450, 1 set of vaccinations is included + vet check up. puppies are raised with parents and have been toilet trained with pads. i have researched and in comparison to other pomchi's, this seems steep! should i ask to negotiate or is it this being unreasonable/rude?
when i asked why she decided to cross breed she admitted that it was unplanned but they had wanted to breed the parents eventually "to see what happened". i believe this is her first litter, she is very fond of the puppies and may not want to negotiate as she is selling reluctantly.
any advice much appreciated!

Run...don't walk...run from this! Way too much money for a mutt from an oops litter! I am sure you can find a pomeranian chihuahua in a shelter.

Wiley is right. It's wrong to charge that much for mixed-breed puppies from an unplanned litter. The reason well-bred puppies cost more is because of all the expenses of being a responsible breeder- you have to get your dogs tested for genetic diseases, screened for heart, eye, and joint defects, and compete with your dogs in dog shows or sports to prove they have the correct structure and temperament for their breed.
And then in breeding, there are stud fees, travel expenses (if the male and female live far apart) or artificial insemination costs, ultrasound to determine pregnancy, x-rays, and often c-sections (especially in small breeds.) All this really adds up, 450 would barely cover the expenses.
But I seriously doubt this lady has spent even CLOSE to that much on this litter.

1). A "pomchi" is a mix between a Pomeranian and a Chihuahua.
2). The price is way TOO high for the dogs.
3). When you hear the word "unplanned" from a "breeder", run! Don't buy from that "breeder". Breeding a dog "to see what would happen" is not a good sign. Don't buy from this person.
4). There are a TON of Pomchi's in shelters and rescues across the world. Go to your local shelter or rescue and adopt or rescue one from there.
