10 month old pug obsessively smelling and licking 10 week old female beagle
We got our beagle 2 weeks ago and our pug has been smelling her butt and licking her vagina literally nonstop ever since. She runs around the house on her front legs because he's gOt his face crammed so far up her behind all day. It's not normal smelling like a dog does upon meeting another. It's relentless smelling and licking sometimes frantically. He's neutered, she's too young for a heat and has no infections. It's becoming an annoying habit of his, not only does it gross out anyone who comes over but the beagle is constantly snapping and barking at him to leave her alone. Why would he be doing this and how can I get him to stop?

Even though he is neutered he will still try to mate with a female. He might be able to smell that she is un-spayed even though she is not in heat. The beagle is telling him that she isn't interested, but she isn't strong enough.
I suggest making a vocal sound when you just start to see the pug going near her. You can also put a leash on and let him drag it. This way you can sharply pull the leash to the side or up(never back). Never pull back with a harness.

Are you absolutely certain, as in via vet visit and cultures, that the new pup does not have a UTI or vaginitis?? Either of these conditions are extremely common in young pups AND both give off an odor similiar to a female in heat due to the blood cells present from the infection.
