SAN FRANCISCO, October 13, 2005 -- The online communities of Dogster.com and Catster.com are now seeking entrants for the World's Coolest Dog & Cat Show, the competition where the people not the pedigree decide. The competition is at www.dogster.com/show
The World’s Coolest Dog & Cat Show is an online contest open to any U.S. cat or dog registered with Catster or Dogster, regardless of breed (or lack thereof) and it's absolutely free to enter. Voting is where the real fun happens, with over 100,000 votes cast in just the first few days. Registering at Dogster or Catster is free, and you don't even need a pet to become a member; any registered site user can stroll through the categories and vote for their favorites.
"We truly believe that all pets are special," said Dogster and Catster founder Ted Rheingold. "We've created an alternative to the more stuffy, breed-specific shows so that all cats and dogs have a chance to compete."
There are 15 categories each in the dog and cat competitions. Who has the craziest tail or best smile? Who will win Purse Pup or Scaredy Cat? Register your pet early and keep coming back to vote for your favorites.
Enter your dog or cat today! Voting for finalists has begun and continues through Nov 17. After that our panel of celebrity judges take over to pick the category winners. From the finalists, the people will then vote to decide Best In Show, given to the single favorite cat and dog entry. Winners will be announced Dec. 9 and will receive prizes including Nintendo DS™ game system with their new hit, Nintendogs™, Target gift cards, Dad's pet foods, a photo shoot with New York Dog or Hollywood Dog magazine and a personalized copy of Dogs 24/7 or Cats 24/7. Other prizes will be given from sponsors, including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Hartville Pet Insurance Company.
