SAN FRANCISCO, August 29, 2005 -- Dogster.com, the number one pet community on the web, has surpassed 100,000 dogs. Its sister site Catster topped 40,000 cats a day later.
"This is our red-letter day," remarked founder Ted Rheingold, "it validates what we have thought a along. If you build a friendly, safe online space that reflects the users' passions, the users will come and the community will flourish."
Dogster.com launched in January 2004. Catster.com in August 2004. The sites are owned by Dogster, Inc., a private company. The sites combine for over 100,000 members and 8 to 10 million page views per month.
